BMW Motorrad is all set to introduce the new R 18 retro cruiser motorcycle in India on September 19. The R18 is BMW’s answer to Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle which currently have a major share in the cruiser segment.
R18 cruiser draws design inspiration from the old BMW R5 1930s edition.R 18 Has the 1802 cc largest boxer-twin engine ever built by BMW. It is capable of producing 91bhp and 157Nm and comes mated to a shaft drive. As for features, R18 comes with ABS, stability control as well as three ride modes- Rain, Rock, and Roll. It also gets a hill-hold assist, heated grips, and a reverse gear as options.
On the outside, the BMW R18 receives an old-school classic circular headlamp, Overall, the R 18 cruiser has a very unique design with a beautifully chromed engine. It also gets a single-piece rider's seat and wire-spoke wheels which complements its overall old-school look
Expect the final price of the BMW R18 to start from around ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom). Some of its direct rivals include the newly launched Triumph Rocket 3 GT and the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.
