Passenger Vehicle Sales Increases to Double Digits for the first time in a few years. Which the Automotive Industry saw a positive trend after a negative growth.

As per the Industry Body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer (SIAM), 215,916 passenger vehicles were sold, which is 14% more than last year. Tata motors numbers are not included because it stopped giving data to SIAM.

Amit Paranjape Tweeted: "Total domestic sales jumped 21.6% to 35,420 units on Aug 20 from 29 140 units on Aug 19. While the total comm vehicles sales declined by 28% to 17,889 units, the total passenger vehicle sales surged 154% to 18,583 on Aug 20 over Aug 19."

SIAM President Kenichi Ayukawa said, "We are beginning to observe growth which is instilling the confidence back into the Automotive industry, especially in the two-wheeler and the passenger vehicle segments. It is to be recognized that the base figures in August 2019 itself were deficient, as the Automotive industry had shown a de-growth of about 32 percent for passenger vehicles and 22 percent for two-wheelers in 2019, over 2018."
